JoSorMo
It is probably not wise to "exhume" the ghost of QuGorMo, but the trio of Joba, Soriano and Rivera really could be the difference for this Yankees team. We saw it in 1996 when Rivera took the 7th and 8th by himself before handing it over to Wetteland and we saw it for most of 2004 before Joe Torre destroyed Paul Quantrill and Tom Gordon's arms in the first half of the year.
That's one thing that Joe Girardi won't do. Joe does not abuse his relievers and it means we have some nights ahead of us when JoSorMo will be unavailable. But, four games in, it's nice to dream about seeing them deployed in a playoff game.

It's JoSoMo and the end of the show.
I do think that Rivera is not as unhittable as he once was. You do see some well hit balls off him now. In the old days, he'd only lose by giving up a couple of bleeders.
Even with Rivera becoming mortal after 40, this is a very good bullpen. It looked like the Twins' book on Joba is to take everything and wait for a walk. That didn't work and hopefully Joba is not going to implode any more.
As for Soriano, he is very impressive. No way are the Yankees going to be able to keep him after this year. He'll opt out and close somewhere else. But I'll enjoy him as long as he's here.

Oh boy. Tough game last night.
Watching as good a pitcher as Soriano implode made me realize how good Rivera really is. Has he ever issued 3 walks in an inning? What's the worst Rivera ever did -- give up a bleeder to Luis Gonzalez? Allow a walk, stolen base, and a hit to Boston in Game 4? Makes you realize who the true MVP of this team is.

I feel for Soriano. He goes out there to do what he does frequently quite well and something in his body just makes the ball go someplace other than where he wants it to go. So he stops and does the worst thing he can possibly do - and THINKs about it - and then he tries again only to have it still not work.
Then after he blows the game, he can't stop thinking about what he's done and realizes than he doesn't know what to say and he bolts from the club house away from the 4th estate. Mo will help him get through this ...Soriano manned up and apologized and I'm pretty sure that we'll see a few better days from the guy.
Sometimes the ball goes swish and sometimes it goes clang, sometimes it breaks perfectly and sometimes it goes about 9 inches away from the catchers mitt - in front a few million eyeballs. Athletes have it rough in many ways.
