A Big Break
Tampa's win in Texas today forces a Game 5 on Tuesday. That means David Price and Cliff Lee will not be available to pitch Game 1 of the ALCS and could only pitch Game 2 if they went on three-days rest. That's a big advantage for the Yankees, but it also means they have to figure out a way to win Game 1 now.

Yankee starters vs Minn... 20 IP, 5 ERs, 14 Hits, 5 BB, 15 K's. Rock solid. Why were we worried again? Oh yeah, the last 6 weeks of the season.

Pretty funny to think that CC was actually their worst starter in the ALDS. If that keeps up, the Yankees will win the World Series.

I'm rooting for Tampa Bay to win. They are clearly a better team than Texas and deserve to be in the ALCS. If the Yankees are to be champions, they should be forced to beat the best teams -- Tampa and Philadelphia.
I think it will be tough to beat both, especially on the road. If their starters pitch well, they should be able to do it. This includes Burnett, by the way. There's no getting around a fourth starter for these two series.

It's official. The Yanks are going with a four-man rotation. AJ gets the call. I think they'd be better off planning on pitching Nova for 4 innings and let the bullpen pick up the remaining 5. Less taxing on the offense and the bullpen, too.

AJ is going to pitch in the ALCS, according to various news items. Interesting ...

Totally agree Greg. I wonder how much of it is not wanting to further embarrass the guy they owe another 3 years and $50 million to?

Guys? Go to the Yankees website, look at the picture they have of AJ about to come forward towards the plate - and tell me if you thinks he's hiding or broadcasting what's coming?

That picture probably changes very frequently during the course of any given day. Right now I see a pictures of Price and Lee side-by-side.

That would be broadcasting!
But, is that picture really from straight behind home? It seems to me that it is from the first base side.
(Granted, that still means a lefty knows what coming)

Yep, looks like broadcasting to me also. Looking at his eyes and assuming he's looking at the cactcher's mitt, seems like he does show a bit more to lefties - still, it's something to look for next time he pitches.
Here's hoping it's Good AJ that shows up for the rest of October - we could use him.

It's Texas. I take note of Corey's point but I'm not as fussed about having to prove anything. Having Cliff Lee throw 120 pitches was gravy. Given that Philly face SF, wishing for it to be harder for us this round is a bit much.
