Bummer

Remember Jon Weber and what a great story he was in spring training?  He just got suspended for at least the second time for "a banned substance".  I know the article says it is the third time, but my understanding of the drug policy in place was that a third positive test meant a lifetime ban and he got 100 games.

I don't know why news like this shocks me anymore, but it does.  Ugh

This is the kind of guy who cheats -- he's on the margin all his career and feels that with just one little push he can finally make it.

I just finished reading "Sixty Feet Six Inches", which is an extended dialogue between Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson. Gibson admits that if steroids were available to him he may well have taken them. He couldn't bear the thought of others getting a competitive edge on him.

So the lesson for me is that the temptations of PEDs are just too great and that MLB needs to beef up enforcement programs ASAP.

Too bad. I was really rooting for Weber.

I certainly understand it. To be that close to the bigs, but unable to get the call must lead you to cut some corners. Like you said- too bad.
