How About A Laugh?

I was doing some research for a post that is coming this weekend (teaser!) and I stumbled upon this quote from Johnny Damon in the May 3, 2005 New York Times:

"There's no way I can go play for the Yankees, but I know they are going to come after me hard. It's definitely not the most important thing to go out there for the top dollar, which the Yankees are going to offer me. It's not what I need."

I suspect that Damon comes from the A-Rod/Schilling School of BallPlayer - that is, "say as little as possible at all times" or to significantly mangle something that Annie or Crash would say: "don't talk too much, it can only hurt"

On another, completely unrelated topic: Nick Johnson is starting to look truly lost up at the plate. Tex I can let slide cause he's just awful in April but he typically recovers nicely, but Johnson is starting to worry me as a $5MM + mistake. I'd love to be wrong, but ...

Mitchell-

I think the manager sent a message when he PH Posada for Nick tonight. I don't care what the lefty/righty matchup at the time was, that was a wake up call.

Yep, Peter, pulling Johnson for Posada was about as loud a message as Girardi could send to the DH.

It's alwys a pleasure watching Ozzie Guillen lose a ball game. I don't like how he manages with publily uttered words about his own players.
