Good News Baseball Fans
TBS has decided to "part ways" with Chip Caray, bringing an end to our suffering.
I generally don't root for people to be fired, but I am also not a big fan of nepotism. I hope TBS thinks about adding a good play-by-play guy like Gary Cohen or I would take Jon Miller if Joe Morgan didn't come with him.

not jon miller, phillips is gone cary is gone , how do we get rid of hicup gammons, maybe if the yanks win this year he will have a break down and take ten years off, mutcliff also. they need a guy or guys that played the game or managed, some we can respect for their knowledge of the game..morgan is good..this last year they had tiant on. boy they forgot about the game, was on for about 30 minutes. pure torture

LOL. Yeah, I remember the "Tiant" game. Drove me nuts - I'm yelling at the screen "baseball game, baseball game" and all I'm getting is Tiant & Co. yak yak yakin away.
Sad to say but the announcers that I like the best of all the ones that I've seen are Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo. Remy calls it right, even it happens to be the Yankees that are playing good ball at that particular moment. They're a bit crazy in the booth but they call a good game.

I like the Jon Miller / Joe Morgan team. Morgan is a good baseball man and I think they are both quite likable.
I get most of my Yankee games on line from Sterling and Waldman. It's too bad Sterling feels compelled to do his shtick with THE Yankees win and personalized home run calls. He really isn't all that bad and could be a lot better with some self discipline.
I miss the days of Rizzuto-Messer-White.

Totally agree on Sterling, I kind of like Waldman, but she plays it up with John too much. I am not a fan of Michael Kay on the TV side, but I like Singleton and Flaherty and Cone seem solid. Rizzuto was a classic "WW" is still my favorite scoring expression ever.

Jon Miller used to be really good, now he reminds me of Ed McMahon (when he was alive).
Morgan is a blowhard that constantly reminds the audience how great he was in his day.
Growing up, Tiant was a hero to me so I personally didn't mind when they had him in the booth but I can understand most people's distaste for it.
I really enjoy Remy and Orsillo but it was good to hear an opposing fan say nice things Mitchell. Remy is brutally honest and a homer at the same time, hard to do.
When the games against the Yankees are with the Yankees announcers I cannot listen to Sterling.
One of the best, even though baseball is secondary for him, is Gary Thorne in Baltimore. Has the type of voice that you like listening to, Al Michaels, Vin Scully are others. Doesn't matter what they say but the voice carries them. They happen to be good announcers too.

I can't stand Sterling or Waldman. I find it excruciating listening to them. I prefer Kay over those two -- but I find him tiresome, also. I'm with you Corey, I much preferred Rizzuto-Messer-White (even if I found Rizzuto to be too much of a homer).
I was in Vermont late August, and caught a Red Sox game on NESN. Bucholtz pitched very well against Toronto on a dreary, rainy Saturday evening in New England. Remy was OK, but I didn't much care for Rice.
Interestingly, I can deal with McCarver. Lots of folks loathe him, I know, but I certainly don't.

BL- you nailed why I dislike Morgan. McCarver used to do that, but he has lost all his "Bob Gibson" stories recently and I enjoyed him more this past season.
I agree on Thorne, he is a good baseball guy.
