Time For A Laugh
This one comes via Scott Boras. (And isn't it weird to see Boras standing right behind home plate next to Pat Sajack at the Big A?) Here is what Boras said to the Daily News about Johnny Damon
"Not that I've been thinking about this, but players who can get on the field every day and score 100 runs, how many guys do that? Johnny just plays, and he's got the body type that allows him to do that. If stem-cell research were around, you'd want to tap into that gene pool. He's (35), but has a 30-year-old's body. He plays much younger."
Some thoughts about this
"Not that I've been thinking about this" yeah right.
I guess he has the arm of a 70-year old?
And, Boras may not have realized that stem cells are around, but I think he meant to say cloaning.
Comments
Peter - I know some 70 year olds with stronger arms than Damon's. Damon also seems unable to catch the ball easily these days.
Did you see Melky's throw on a clothesline from the wall to home plate at the end of the game? Kid has a light bat but an incredible arm. Would be nice if Damon's bat and Melky's arm came as a unit, no? (sigh)
I suspect that both Damon and Matsui may be gone at year's end. No arm, no legs. $26 million in salaries off the books. Gotta get younger. Who knows, maybe Ajax might be ready by then. But, getting ahead of myself again - let's win the next 6 in a row and then see what the hot stove brings.

I fully expected to see a strong defense post for Mo's indiscretion last night. I guess I would be silent too :)
nobody looking?

Hey, didn't you know Mo threw a spitter, BL? It's pretty much common knowledge around Yankees Universe. We even get a "Guide to Throwing the Big Wet One" in our fully paid membership kits. It's so cool - you gotta get one (the Guide, not the Big Wet One)
Honestly? I saw him to do that and it never even registered that someone would think he was doctoring the ball.

Mitchell- I expect one of them back at a reduced rate. Before the last six weeks, I would have hoped that was Damon. Now, not so much.
BL- You are kidding, right?

Kidding in that it wouldn't matter to me if he did, but clearly he looked around and made sure he wasn't being watched and dropped one right on the ball.
MLB claiming it missed the ball is a joke.

First of all, it makes no sense to try and make a spitball by hocking one on the ball in front of everyone. Way too easy to be caught and way too random in the application of the saliva.
And, doesn't a spitball make the ball move all over the place? Rivera's cutter is the same thing, again and again.
I can't believe this is really an issue.

c'mon, how can you say that? I mean ARod is hitting in the post season and the Yankees are up in the LCS, of course it is an issue!

Because I can't believe intelligent people think Mariano is using a spitball.

joking from the beginning, see the smiley in original post I made. From reading your responses, it seems you are really annoyed by it and the accusation. Any other pitcher and I bet you'd be having fun with it, but Mo is closest thing to G O D in pinstripes and untouchable (deservedly so)...
