Prediction Review
Well, how did I do in my yearly effort to predict the future?
Well, the Cubs aren't going to win the World Series, so that's out. The Mets are certainly not the NL Wild Card and the Tigers won't finish last in the AL Central.
But, if Minnesota wins tomorrow then I went 4-for-4 in predicting the AL playoff field and I had the Phillies and Dodgers winning their divisions.
I missed on some comments like "The Padres are the worst team in baseball" but also hit on some like " I like a lot of things about Tampa, but this year they are not going to surprise anyone, they will be expected to win. I think those expectations will be tough to live up to for a young team and they won't repeat as division champs or even make the playoffs."
I had the Yankees winning the AL East and beating the Twins to advance to the ALCS with Boston beating the Angels to meet them there. I also had the Yankees losing the ALCS in the 17th inning of Game 7 because A-Rod went to a photo shoot.
Let's hope I am wrong on that last one.
Comments
I'm guessing that the Sox don't make it past the Angels this time. And I'm calling it Yankees vs the Phillies in the WS for at least 6 games. I do know, for certain, which team I will be rooting for. If it's Yankees vs Dodgers? That would be even more fun to watch.

And now for something completely different. Here's my question for this slow Yankees day. If you're a Yankees fan, you're probably a NYer or ex-NYer and have avoided the pull of the upstart Mets. Are you also a Giants fan or do you root for the Jets? And why?
Me first: I root for the Giants probably for the same reason I root for the Yankees - my first ballgame was a Yankees game and my first football game was a Giants game (colder and snowier than I ever want to experience again in my life). Yankees won that game as I recall, Mantle hit one out. Giants lost that game, Jim Brown seemed to require a lot of guys to get him to fall down.
Random observation: I can wear Giants gear around the Boston area and be left relatively undisturbed, but Yankees colors are OUT.
So - Giants or Jets? And why?

Showtime has been running a documentary on the AFL and one of the things I found interesting was that when the Boston Patriots started play they scheduled their home games on Friday night so they wouldn't compete with the Giants games on Sunday.
I am also a Yankees/Giants fan which does seem to be the more likely combo. I know there are Yankees/Jets fans, just not a lot of them. I think a lot of it goes back to when the Giants played at Yankee Stadium and the Jets at Shea. For me it was simply #56. There was something amazing about watching him and while the Jets had the "Sack Exchange" it just didn't compare to watching LT dominate the field. My high school was about 50-50 in 1986 when both teams started 10-1, but I noticed that after that point more people became Giant fans. I wonder why....
