On The Brink
Joe Girardi rolled the dice and he won. C.C. Sabathia made a start on short rest and came through brilliantly. Now the Yankees are in control of the ALCS and have the luxury of knowing Sabathia is waiting there in Game 7 if they need him.
But, you have to hope it never comes to that. AJ is up on Thursday and hopefully he is ready to deliver the goods. If I am Girardi, I start Posada and see what happens. A 3-1 lead lets you do that.

My guess is that Girardi, a creature of habit, will not vary, in any way, from what got him to this point: Molina is AJ's catcher until something BIG changes.
Some * truly * bad calls by the umps in this game. Embarassing. And nice to see the bats come alive for a change. Was starting to worry a bit.
We just need five straight wins - that'll do it.

Peter, I agree about having a 3-1 lead providing you a luxury but I see no reason to screw with what Burnett and Molina have going on. I'd like to have Burnett coming off a good start for a possible game 2 in the WS.

This is a classic case of "Dont fix what isnt broken". I dont think anyone knows why, but Burnett certainly pitches a better game with Molina. Since the only cost is 2 AB's or so, why mess with it? The performance on the mound is far more important than Posadas bat.

I suppose you are both right now that I think more about it. Plus, if the Yankees make the World Series I would assume Burnett would pitch Games 2+6 which means you would have the DH. I wouldn't want to play a game with Molina and the pitcher hitting.
