Now It Is Obvious
With the Tigers and Twins winning today the AL Central will come down to a one-game playoff on Tuesday. That means the Yankees have to pick the longer ALDS.
It's a no-brainer at this point. The eight-day ALDS starts Wednesday which means the team that wins the Central playoff comes in with no rest and a presumeably exhausted bullpen.
So, while I would never recommend betting on my predictions (see tomorrow's post) expect Game 1 to be at The Stadium Wednesday @ 6:07.

A-Rod looks completely relaxed, hopefully this is the guy that shows up for the next several weeks.
Joba looked OK, not great, just OK as a reliever. Yeah, he put up a zero but his velocity started at 97 and was down to 93 by the last pitch (of 9 pitches thrown, if I recall correctly).
Does Andy or AJ start the second game?
Gaudin has made his case, I wonder if he's going to the ALDS? And what of Bruney? And Robertson? Be really interesting to see the bullpen for the ALDS ...
Decisions, decisions ...

Both teams, however exhausted by Wednesday, will give the Yankees a tough time.
The Twins are the better team. They play good defense, good small ball, and suddenly have a few power hitters for a change.
The Tigers are much sloppier in the field, but have more power in the line up, and Verlander in a short series guarantees them a win or two. Jackson has not been pitching well and Porcello is still a bit raw. If the Yanks get to the Detroit bullpen, they'll feast.
The Yankees dropped the first 8 games to the Red Sox, many of which they should have won. Then they stormed back to go 9-1. In the post-season, the Twins will have a chance to win some of those late-inning games they lost in the regular season.
