Coming March, 2010...
I think we all know what David Price was trying to do last night to Mark Teixeira and I think we can all agree that the Yankees and Teixeira were smart not to take the bait.
But, I would expect this one has gone into Joe Girardi's mental file cabinet. It won't happen this weekend, but I can bet you the first time these teams meet in spring training, something will happen. Some pitcher will "lose control" of a fastball and someone like Carl Crawford will have to duck.
As for last night's game, don't get too hung up on Sabathia's start. In 2007 Chien-Ming Wang allowed 2 runs over seven innings in his last start and then got shelled in the playoffs. Andy Pettitte got shelled in his last start that year, giving up nine runs and then he pitched 6-1/3 shutout innings in his playoff start (aka "The Midge Game") My point is, draw conclusions from the last start of the season at your own risk.
