1 Down
There were a lot of positives from tonight's game, starting with the fact that the Yankees won. But here are a bunch of other ones in no particular order
Sabathia looked good and pitched well. Considering his career postseason numbers that's a big thing.
A-Rod getting two hits and two RBI's will shut all that "can't handle the pressure" talk for awhile. Considering how his first two AB's looked, that hit in the fifth was enormous.
Matsui just keeps hitting.
The Yankees repeated their successful formula from the regular season. They worked the pitcher and then started hitting the second time through the order.
Hughes, Coke and Joba in front of Mariano is very formidable, talk about shortening the game.
Of course there is one thing not to like and that was Posada's catching. I don't know if he is sulking over his upcoming benching, but that passed ball was terrible and he needs to snap out of it.
But, that obviosuly won't be an issue on Friday because he isn't catching.
Comments
That was one of the really few times I have seen Posada look that mentally scrambled behind the plate.
A-Rod is * much * more relaxed when he doesn't try to do much with a pitch with RISP. An RBI is an RBI. If he can contribute and the rest of the crew stays steady, we've got a good shot at this.

I have read that the two passed balls were communication miscues between Jorge and CC.
This quote from Chad Jennings at LoHud: 'Both Sabathia and Jorge Posada said the passed balls were because of miscommunication. “The first one was my fault,” Posada said. “We were trying go inside with a guy at second base and I thought I called something and it was my fault the first time. The next one, I’m on the mound and I told him what I wanted him to throw, and when I got to the plate he threw a different pitch.” '
