Good News
Ian Kennedy threw 25 pitches off a real mound today. He is going to throw again on Friday.
I wrote about Kennedy last week and I still wonder if he could possibly help the Yankees in 2009. Time is a bit tight, but if he could start making rehab starts at the end of next week (around August 20th) you would have to think it's a possibility.
We should also hear some news about Brett Gardner today, he is getting an x-ray on his thumb which will determine when he will be back.

Peter thats good news, if he can get some starts in Sept. and pitch well if we are holding a good lead, we could stretch out starts for CC & Aj, Joba,,, could he be added to the second round playoffs?? if not on by the end of Aug> ??/

Peter i just read on the Bronx block that Mulder is getting into pitching shape, now to me he is worth a gamble, it only cost $$, not players, tough lefty when right, bullpen help and maybe can fill in if kennedy can come back, did you hear anything on this guy and your opinion. thanks

BWP- Since the Yankees will have Wang on the DL August 31st, they will have the ability to add a pitcher to the postseason roster who is not active August 31st. It's a weird loophole that teams exploit.
As for Mulder I would take a flier on him if the scouts like what they see. I see it as a very similar move to the Phillies adding Pedro. It could work, it could blow up, but as you said it only costs money.

19 years later and Mike Witt for Dave Winfield still bugs me.
I think you are talking about Duchscherer. Last I saw he is due back in the next 10 days. Pitched great last year, but I imagine the A's will ask a lot for him if he is healthy.

Latest: Gaudin is starting Sunday in place of Joba - starting to save innings - while Mitre is starting Saturday.

Ok, now I am reading that Gaudin won't be starting on Sunday. I hope not because the rotation as it stands would put Joba-AJ-CC in line for the Boston series. I wouldn't change that.

Peter? I am still reading (Anthony DiComo from mlb.com as published on the official Yankees website)that it's Gaudin on Sunday, not Joba.

Yeah Mitchell, I see that too. The whole "Girardi shaking his head" thing is confusing me. I am hoping we get some sort of postgame (game isn't on YES tonight) to see what's what.
