Not A Shocker
According to Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays have told the Yankees and Sox they "much prefer" to trade Halladay outside of the AL East.
Can you really blame them? Trading him is going to be tough enough on that franchise and its fans, having to face him 5 times a year would be awful. Unless the Yankees or Sox agree to trade prospects and take on Vernon Wells' contract, I don't see a deal being made in the AL East. Much, much more likely in my mind that he ends up in St. Louis or Philadelphia. In many ways this is a replay of the Santana deal. Boston and New York are probably both rooting for a trade to the NL.
And, today means it is two weeks to the deadline. Get your hot stoves ready.

Just puffery, they
have made many a trade with the yanks on big names lets not forget..If they can unload wells contract in the deal bet your last subway token .this is a business move, these people are about money. The sox gave 50mil. just to talk to dice k.. the yanks gave 20 30 mil to talk to igawa and boy did that hurt, so riccardi won't deal with those two clubs???? If he trades rios halladay wells what is it going to mean if he faces him five times a year, they will be in the rebuilding stage for at lease three years, by then Roy will be on the dl or have a 480 era.. the trade would be for prospects not pujous, lincecum..all propaganda, Theo is very sharpe to fall for that, Cash is another story..sorry to say.. Now if Thoe and Cash wink at each other and not go near him, he will be in the santana "I out played my hand" twins state of mind.. they tried the same nonsense and got nobody back for a Cy young guy.

My guess - I have been wrong before though - is that Hallady either stays put or winds up someplace other than the AL East. And no, I can't really blame the Jays for wanting to shipping him to a galaxy far, far away.
