This Is Justice?

So let me get this straight.  A.J. Burnett throws at a Ranger to protect his teammate and gets suspended for six games.  Vincente Padilla starts the whole thing by hitting Mark Teixeira twice and he only gets a fine?

How is this fair?  Now, I agree that Burnett should be suspended.  Everyone knows you can't throw up and in and get away with it, but Padilla clearly intended to drill Teixeira and he did it twice.  If you suspend one, you have to suspend the other in my mind.

On a separate note, don't get too attached to the idea of watching baseball from the Bronx tonight.  The forecast is grim to say the least.

I like Burnett and don't like Padilla -- but this was a just result.

Burnett should have thrown at the batter's feet or hit him in the butt. Throwing anywhere near the head is bad, bad, bad -- even if you don't hit him you have to be punished.

Padilla probably should have gotten some kind of suspension -- but wasn't he cut by the Rangers anyway?

Good point, he was placed on waivers- and amazingly not claimed! But, I think they both should have been suspended. Burnett for longer, but Padilla cannot be allowed to drill a guy twice and then walk away with only a fine.

I forgot to mention in my post that the home plate ump did a great job not warning the teams until after Burnett had thrown at Cruz.
