Here We Go

I didn't hear it, but apparently Mike Francesca cut into Sabathia today about the fact that he hasn't told the Yankees anything yet.  You can read more about it here

This is exactly what I was worried about the other day.  Like him or not (I do most of the time) Francesca has enormous influence in this town and rants like this will not help Sabathia make a transition to New York. (If he chooses to make one I should say.)  A few weeks ago, he would have come in as a savior, now the tide is turning and people are getting angry.  It's understandable and predictable with the current economic mess, but unfortunate.  Then again, it may all be a moot point

In all honesty, CC may be very smart to walk away from us. NY can be a vicious place to play ball. Conversely, it may also be smart for Cash to move past the "CC show" and fill the roster with players who won't fold in or shy away from the NYC spotlight. Randy Johnson had a tough time here and I recall reading stories about Manny having a rough time in Boston (another tough baseball town).

Once you make a certain amount of money, there's really nothing to be gained by making more - what becomes important is your quality of life and the comfort of your family.

I think we're over focused on this guy - and now might be a good time to move on.

If I was Cash, I would stop licking C.C.'s p**p hole and sign Sheets for 2yrs for around 24-28 mill, Burnett for 4yrs for around 64-68 mill and Andy for 1yr for 12-13 mill. Then, I'd go HARD after Tex. Although there would be a plethora of 1st base candidates in a few yrs, you just can't ignore a great switch hitting, gold glove 1st baseman who is young and actually wants to be a Yankee...unlike someone. Even If we don't get Tex, we'd still have a better team next year than we did this year. Isn't that the whole point? It's almost like Cash feels so guilty for not trading for Santana that he feels that he has to do everything possible and impossible to sign C.C. CASH IT'S NOT THAT SERIOUS...LET IT GO DUDE. WE CAN WIN A RING WITHOUT C.C.
