Finally!
The Yankees are finally going to try someone new in the pen, David Robertson. Just heard it on WFAN, though they don't know who is getting sent down. 33 innings, 48 K's and 16 walks at AAA this year with 0 HR's allowed. The guy has frequently been mentioned as a possible 8th inning solution and while I don't think the Yankees will try him out there right away, it's nice to see the Yankees trying something new.
Ian Kennedy is starting for Tampa today and you have to think he will get back to New York quickly if he is healthy and remotely effective.
UPDATE: Thankfully, it is Kei Igawa back to Scranton. Seeing him last night was enough for awhile.

If IPK returns, who does he replace? Giese, Ponson or Rasner. Let's see how Rasner fares today against the Mutts.

Everything I read about Rasner leads me to believe that I would like the guy if we ever met. Here are my observations about him after today's game. He's a battler, he doesn't get rattled and seems focused at all times. His control today was pretty bad. Molina sets up in Spot A and Rasner hits spot D - about 3 feet away, sometimes even on a diagonal. Looked like his release point was lost at times - hard to watch him. Yep, he hung in there and kept them in the game, but he and his stuff did not impress today. 8 hits and 2 BBs (excluding the IBB) over 5 innings is going to get this guy in deep trouble more often than not. This was not the same control he demonstrated in Scranton - so maybe he can find his control again - hopefuly soon.
Robertson looked like he had potentially good stuff - let's see how he develops for as long as they keep him on the 25 man roster. Curious to see who departs once Bruney returns.
OK, so Sidney looks like a problem waiting to surface and Rasner is struggling.
And that was a very odd lineup that Girardo put together today.

I think you are dead on Mitchell. Keep an eye on Karstens, pretty good recently and probably will be called up soon.

Cashman and Girardi seem to be throwing pasta at the wall to see what (who) sticks. One day, hopefully soon, some of it WILL stick and we can settle in to some sort of a consistent 25 man roster.

Regardless of what happens the rest of this second game with the Rangers - this kid Robertson hangs tough. He misses his spots but his stuff and his grit get him through. Nice to watch.
Joba was wild and the Bombers are anything but hitting lately, but at least there's something to look forward to - maybe - in some of these young arms.
Bring on Karstens ...

Mo loses it and, sad to say, it's time to think about the Melkman. Sitting him down or moving him out might be a good thing to do.
