Kennedy Could Do That

Say what you want about Ian Kennedy, but it is fair to say he would have done better than Igawa tonight.  Igawa may be the only guy in the world who would lose a popularity contest against Carl Pavano with Yankees' fans.  To make matters worse, Albie got hurt in the game and it sounds like it will be a long-term injury.

My question is this, with Albie hurt, why wouldn't the Yankees bring Kennedy back?  They have an injury exemption that allows them to bring anyone back to the majors, so why use it on Britton instead of Kennedy?  Not that I have anything against Britton, I wish the Yankees would give him a shot, but does anyone think Igawa will pitch well next Wednesday against Tampa?  I know I don't and while one game in the minors doesn't prove much, I still think Kennedy gives the Yankees a better chance to win than Igawa and isn't that all that matters?

Peter, it is a matter of developing Kennedy. Kennedy has little to no confidence right now and they want him to get it back in AAA. Throwing him back out there at the MLB level might give the Yankees a better chance of winning, but at what cost in the long term? Igawa isn't likely to do well based recent and past history, but it is by far the best move for the long term of the Yankees...hence the reason I too think Kennedy should be back in the majors...and start the next 5 games the Yankees play.

Have you ever noticed that you can't post on anything Yankees related without getting in a shot? We get it, you are a Red Sox fan and as such you probably didn't read the quotes from Kennedy when he was demoted and after his recent start in AAA. Trust me, confidence is not his problem.

Igawa and Kennedy are just awful. How about starting Ohlendorf? Hawkins and Britton would have to pick up his slack in the bullpen. Ohlendorf has good stuff, has experience starting, and has a sinker that would get better over the course of a game.

Corey-

I wouldn't mind trying it out in a pinch, but I think Ohlendorf is going to be a great setup guy down the road.
