Joba To The Pen

Just heard on WFAN that Joba will start the season in the bullpen.  He has a limit of 140 innings or so this year which makes this not a surprise.  The questions I have are 1- how soon do we get him to the rotation and 2- how long will it take to stretch back out?

Joe Girardi said his future remains as a starter, so this will be very, very interesting to watch.

Just got back from Tampa. Was not able to see Joba, but I did see Kennedy. He's got a pitching motion now that looks just like Mike Mussina. And he throws lots of great junk with good control. A very likeable pitcher. The best thing about Joba being in the bullpen is that Kennedy gets to start.

Wang was also impressive -- until men get on base. He still seems to lose control when he's pitching from the stretch.

Duncan is one of the few guys taking these games seriously and he looked great. I would like to see both he and Ensberg in the lineup when they face a tough lefty.

Finally, Tabata continues to impress. He really battles in his at bats. Does not panic when he falls behind in the count. He works the count and looks for a good pitch to hit. He's awfully small, though, and it will be interesting to see if he is able to develop as a power hitter.
