Finally!
Thank you Derek Jeter for taking a stance on the drug issue in baseball. In an interview with Bloomberg News, Jeter appears to have supported blood testing for baseball players. I don't absolve the owners in any of the mess baseball is in, but the Players' Union has been a much bigger anchor on progress. Maybe having a player of Jeter's magnitude make these comments will put some pressure on Union leadership to get something done. Hopefully, at the very least some repoters are going to other stars and asking if they agree with Jeter. Better yet, maybe the stars of the game won't wait and will stand up and announce their agreement, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

agreed, there should be a wave of upper tier players jumping in right now, it would do the sport good and they would have nothing to lose.

It is a good sign. The union has somehow managed to avoid the public scrutiny they deserve. This isn't an anti-union thing here, just that they have a ton of control over whether or not MLB testing has any teeth.
Good for Jeter and let's hope more players step forth.
Question: what good would a blood test do? Obviously it is harder to "fake" a blood sample, so it would help with steroids, but is there an HGH test yet? I was under the impression there was not b/c the HGH people take is basically the exact same thing your body produces. Although I might sound like one and most of you probably though I am, I am not a doctor, so someone please chime in here.

This is a pretty good article about HGH testing.

Sounds like a good test using blood is very close to fruition.
