Andy Is A Liar
Andy Pettitte has admitted in his deposition that he used HGH in 2004. As you may recall, Pettite apologized in December for using HGH in 2002. At the time (December) he said:
"In 2002 I was injured. I had heard that human growth hormone could promote faster healing for my elbow. I felt an obligation to get back to my team as soon as possible. For this reason, and only this reason, for two days I tried human growth hormone."
Well, two days have now become three and his credibility has gone down the toilet. Why he apologized in December and didn't tell the full truth is mystifying, but he went with partial truths and now we cannot believe anything he says.

Yes, Pettite is having some trouble coming to terms with the truth. I kind of figured his story last time around seemed a little too pat.
Still, unlike Clemens, Bonds, Palmeiro, Sosa, McGwire and others, he is telling the truth when he's under oath.
Men under pressure will lie and cheat if the stakes are high enough and if there is little chance of getting caught. I suspect that most players succumbed to the temptation and are paying the price now.
Don't judge them, just hold them accountable. For me, Pettite comes across as flawed but fundamentally decent. He's a lot like Giambi.

Peter, why don't you post a running blog? That would be interesting. Jayson Stark is doing it on ESPN, but it lacks depth.

If Pettitte had not been excused yesterday, either Roger would have been further hung out to dry or it would have possibly shown Pettitte's testimony is not as God-like as most make it out to be.
Because he admitted using, because he never threw a broken bat at a running opponent and because he leads a life out of the headlines, we assume he is honest and trustworthy despite admitting lieing or telling less than full truths.
We were robbed of incredible drama yesterday by those that let him off the hook.
How disappointing.

I agree, I don't understand why you would excuse Pettitte when his opinion seems to be the tiebreaker in my mind. If he had been there it would have been amazing theater and we actually might have been able to resolve this.
