At Least It's Not A Paternity Suit....

Looks like #2 might be in trouble with the law.

I know a lot of people who also claim to be Florida residents but spend a lot of time in New York so Derek isn't alone, but you would think a guy who makes $20 million a year wouldn't miss the roughly 10% it costs the rest of us to be residents of this great state and city. (Note to any tax officials reading this. By saying "know" I mean I have heard that some guy down the street, a street I don't really know the name of, may have gone to Florida last month to visit his sick grandmother. On his way to the airport, I am pretty sure he stopped off at a New York tax office and made an estimated payment, but I am probably confused about the whole issue and I could never testify in a court about any of this. Wait, I forgot what my name is.)

ROFLAMO.

Yeah well, I can also attest, from experience in the Empire State and as a former resident of the County of Kings, that the NYS Dept of TnF, gets a little, uh, um, how shall I phrase this, lemme see - piggy (yeah, that's a good word) when it comes to wanting a piece of everything you've earned anywhere on the planet, if you own property in said jurisdiction.

Good luck, DJ. You'll need it with these guys.

Hey, your name is Peter! It's on the bottom of your post. It's Peter!

Hi Andy,

Board got a little unstable for a bit this AM. Had two error messages when I hit the post button (of course this being some bizarre Red Sox conspiracy against Yankee fans living behind enemy lines) so it posted my message twice. Thanks for deleting one of them.

A-Rod's coming back, so what do we want to have happen with Mo? Fours years seems over the top. My guess is they wind up with an option of some sort at the end of year three.

And Lowell at 1B seems like a pretty impulsive thing for the Yankees to do. Guy had a stellar year but will now prob regress back to his career average. 1B continues to be a question mark for us.

And yes, my name is Peter. I AM a non-repentant tax scofflaw. I also have 296 unpaid parking tickets as I disregard the alternate side of the street parking regulations. I still jump the few remaining turnstiles in 4 boroughs.

When are all going to meet either at Fenway or the Bronx to watch a game?

Mitchell, good question (that last one). Taking in a game is a good idea.

And I have heard that you are the scofflaw of all scofflaws.

Lowell at Yankee stadium is tough too b/c his swing/hit pattern favors Fenway (check the splits). At that price, I don't think it makes sense. Going after a Conor Jackson or even Lyle Overbay makes more sense as they are lefties AND, would be much cheaper and younger.

As for Mo, 4 is crazy long, but 3 and an option becomes more palatable. I'm all for those options (team options) that build in playing time as the trigger. Pedro is a good example, had NY given him 3 and a 4th year option, they wouldn't be on the hook right now for a crazy high 4th year and instead could negotiate a much cheaper contract post-injury.

Man do I hate alternate side of the street.

I think Mo comes to his senses. There is a piece in the Daily News today that the commissioner's office has yelled at the Yankees for the offer they already made to him since it will inflate salaries for closers. I just don't see the Yankees offering the fourth year unless Rivera wants to take the $45 million and divide it by four instead of 3,
