World Series Game 3
Game 3 was a roller coaster at times, a breeze at others. A quick start, followed by a slide, then concluded with another explosion. I don't like to say these kinds of things, but the Red Sox line-up is just playing really well right now, much better than Colorado's line-up. They are relentless in their approach. If a pitcher isn't throwing strikes, he is generally screwed. The Red Sox will make him pay.
I had a few gripes with Terry Francona tonight, but to his credit, he did the best he could given his resources. First, why bring in Lopez against Hawpe who, as Tim McCarver said, had trouble with heat. Lopez is an 88-89 pitcher tops and Hawpe took advantage of that. There was another, but I am so tired, I can't remember what it was. No matter, the Red Sox won!
Only 1 team has come back from a 3-0 game deficit. I can't remember who it was though. Hmmm.
Game 4 Sunday 8:23pm (so Fox claims). Jon Lester vs. Aaron Cook.
Oh yeah, Daisuke Matsuzaka's 2 run single was probably the most unlikely thing I have ever seen. Great stuff. Ok, sleep time. Drool city, here I come.

Smugness isn't your style, just go with what you usually go with and enjoy the ride- not many teams have won 2 in 4 years.

I wrote some of my thoughts on the game , specifically the play at the plate with Manny.
I agree, the smugness should never become part of our persona as Sox fans. We must hang on to the underdog role, lol.
We have emerged as the 2nd best hated franchise in baseball, it is what we are.
Redsox nation has been invaded in the last 4 years and the Sox fans' persona has changed. No longer are the long suffering fans the postcard fan, the new, bandwagon jumper fan is the image you see. One of the Boston Globe writers wrote about it yesterday (can't find the link now).
We are hated and have to live with that now. As long as we continue to win, I can live with it.

Yeah, some uncharacteristic stuff in there. I was told it was ok to look ahead and make predictions and comments b/c any could over the Red Sox disappeared in 2004. Well, I'm not sure I totally agree with that, but it makes enjoying the game easier. In the past I would always have a sense of dread which made winning less joy than relief. Now, winning, should they be able to pull it off, could feel a bit better. My 2004 posts (Oct) gave people my feelings about winning the WS (the Red Sox won, not me).

Blmeanie, great post by you. As I mentioned in your comments, great photoshop by someone. Those are good.
I had heard about Tacoby Bellsbury yesterday. Funny. I was at game 2 and a Taco Bell film crew was trying to get Red Sox fans to give their take on Ellsbury getting the steal. I had standing room only and we were 1 level below the Bud seats and much further back. So we had a landing area to ourselves where the interviews were being done. Funny stuff. I was not among those agreeing to an interview.

Guys- I think when you win this you will take the top spot. People enjoy hating the big winner and you guys will assume that role.
And Andy, who told you it was ok, your parents, our school principal? That just sounds funny. (and you are missing a word in that comment)

so whatcha think about my theory on Manny's slide?
If he had the ball in his hand (he did) while making the tag, it is quite possible that he pulled the ball out before/during the tag while trying to reach Manny...
I love a good conspiracy theory...
