The Semis Begin (Yankees)
31 Jan 2011
The ’27 and ’61 Yankees faced off in Games 1+2 today with the 1927 Yankees winning both. While the ’27 Yankees were the “home” team, the fact that they rocked Whitey Ford for four runs in the first inning leads me to believe that they will finish off the ’61 squad quickly. Someone on the ’61 team is going to need to slow down the ’27 offense, they racked up 25 hits and 16 runs in the two games.
I suspect we will have a concluded series by the end of tomorrow, but we will find out.

Whitey Ford is now 1-3 14.54 and Ralph Terry is 0-3 12.75. Amazing that they are where they are. Perhaps having 5 regulars over .300 and two over .400 helps (one at .397 too).
They have been streaky.
Starting off in the YRRS they lost the first two (remember you wrote them off?) then they won 6 in a row before losing their next 3, then 1 win to close out the ’98 team and now two losses in a row.
I think they come back. Maris continues to hit. Mantle is hitting .200 with an OPS of .779 – that has to change at some point, right?

You’re right. I keep trying to shovel the dirt on them and they keep making me look dumb. I just think their luck has run out at this point.
